Privacy Policy
Who this covers
This policy covers nicklebid.com, operated by Nick Lebid-Jurtschyk, an individual based in Los Angeles, California ("I", "me"). It explains what information the site collects, how it is used and protected, and the choices and rights you have. It applies only to this site, not to websites it links to.
Information you give me
The contact form collects what you type into it:
- First name and email address (required, so I can reply)
- Last name, phone number and company (optional)
- The service you are asking about, and your message (optional)
Please do not include sensitive information in the message, such as financial account numbers, government identifiers or health information. The form does not need it and I do not ask for it.
Information collected automatically
When you send the form, two further details travel with it: the page of this site you sent it from, and, if the link that brought you here carried campaign tags (the utm codes added to links in posts and emails), those tags. They tell me which page or post a conversation started from.
Your IP address is used, in scrambled form, to stop the form being flooded with repeated submissions. It is discarded within ten minutes and is never stored with your message.
Like any web host, IONOS, which serves this site, may record standard server logs of requests (such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) to operate and secure its service, under its own privacy policy.
This site uses no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no cookies. See the Cookie Policy for the one thing it does keep in your browser.
Fonts and stylesheets from other providers
To display text and layout, your browser downloads typefaces from Bunny Fonts and a stylesheet from the jsDelivr network. Doing so necessarily sends those providers your IP address and basic browser details. They are used only to deliver those files, and nothing on this site asks them to track you.
How I use your information
- To read and reply to your inquiry
- To provide the services you engage me for, and keep a record of our correspondence
- To understand which pages and posts lead to inquiries, using the campaign tags described above
- To protect the site and the form from abuse
- To meet legal obligations
I do not use your information for automated decision making or profiling, and I do not add you to a mailing list.
Where it is kept and how it is protected
Everything you send travels over an encrypted HTTPS connection. On arrival it is held briefly on the web server in a location that is not reachable from the web, until my own customer database collects it over an authenticated, encrypted connection, usually within a minute. It is then deleted from the server.
From that point it is kept in a database on equipment I control, which is not reachable from the internet, together with local backups. Only I have access to it. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but these measures are designed to keep your information to as few places, and as few people, as possible.
Who it is shared with
I do not sell your personal information, and I do not share it for cross context behavioral advertising. It is disclosed only in these cases:
- Service providers that make the site and my replies work: IONOS (web hosting) and Google (my email provider, when I reply to you by email)
- Topanga Property Management, if your inquiry concerns property management, which is provided through Topanga. I share only what is needed for Topanga to respond, and Topanga handles it under its own privacy policy
- Where the law requires it, or to protect rights, safety or property
California residents: I do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes (California Civil Code section 1798.83).
How long it is kept
For as long as our conversation is active, and for up to two years after our last contact, after which it is deleted. It is deleted sooner if you ask. Where the law requires records to be kept longer, for example records connected to a real estate transaction, they are kept for the period the law requires and no longer.
Your rights
California law gives California residents the right to:
- Know what personal information I hold about you, where it came from and how it is used, and receive a copy
- Have it corrected if it is inaccurate
- Have it deleted
- Opt out of its sale or sharing (I do neither)
- Be free from discrimination for exercising any of these rights
I honor these requests for anyone who asks, wherever they live and whether or not the law requires it of an operator of this size. To make one, use the contact form, choose "Something else", and say what you are asking for. I will confirm the request with the email address it concerns before acting on it, and respond within 45 days. You may also make a request through an authorized agent, who will need to show your written permission.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
This site does not track visitors over time or across other websites, so a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal from your browser has nothing to switch off. Both are respected by default.
Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed to children. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent information through the form, tell me and it will be deleted.
Links to other websites
This site links to other websites, such as Topanga Property Management. Their privacy practices are their own, and this policy does not cover them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version is posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. A change that materially affects how information already collected is used will be stated at the top of the page.
Contact
Questions about this policy, and requests about your information, go through the contact form at nicklebid.com/contact.
